Trip to Wondercon 09
Well this is my second trip to Wondercon and I must admit it was an experience… The day started out with me waking up around 6am and hitting the alarm clock and then just went back to sleep, and because of this I wasn’t able to get down to San Carlos from Sacramento on time… I arrived there at 11am when I was suppose to be there at 8am. Because of this we missed the Watchmen panel, and got to wear the “bitch” hat. Anyway we finally got on the road to San Fransico
As we made our way there, we talked about many things… So many very vulgar and some what geeky things id rather not repeat in this post. Then again we were heading to Wondercon, so really I suppose thats geeky enough? But yeah, I was Twittering a lot on the way there, since it was just me in the back and I was being a bit silent as I Twittered away on my trip to SF (seriously, why is Twitter so popular?) They would look back every once in a while and see me on my cell phone and id say “yeah I am just, uh checking my mail… Yeah thats it”. Of course they were just figured I was looking at porn or doing some sort of phone sex thing, but no I was doing something just as crazy embarresing, I was Twittering, man… It’s almost shameful.
Then my friend Travis got a call from his brother asking him to ask me why my Facebook status was always updating, and causing his phone to vibrate like every other minute (didn’t even know you could link your facebook updates to your cellphone, what a world we live in). Of course I then had to admit I was Twittering and my Facebook would update everytime I did it, oh my…. I have done over 400 entries in Twitter, his phone must be vibrating like crazy!
Anyway when we finally got there we got stuck in a line for a while… There were two lines, one for credit and the other was for cash, of course my friend Robbie being the smarth one he is *rolls eyes* he goes to the short credit line and Travis and I stay in the cash line, can you guess who one and was waiting for the other person for like 10 minutes? Cash is always better.

After waiting in line for a while, we started to walk around… It really wasn’t to big of a place to look around, I like to think of Wondercon as a poor mans Comiccon. Eventually I ended up breaking away from them and started walking around the floor myself… I spent the entire time looking for the Slave labor comics stand section… With no luck really… But I did see some interesting cosplays, nothing amazing, but still something.

It seems a comic convention is never complete with out having some sort of Star Wars trooper walking around…

Ah yes the the Monarchs henchmen from the Venture brothers, good stuff.

They tried… And well failed, I give them props for attempting Teen Titans but really? Still it’s not to bad.

Some pretty awesome Kill Zone 2 cosplay, as soon as they walked in everyone started taking tons of pictures.

Bumble Bee From Transformers, by far the best cosplay I saw at the convention!
Not entirely sure what the heck was going on here… But it was near the Fire Emblem booth, so it was probably related to that.

These people were playing Burnout Paradise but the interesting thing about it is they were wearing some special shades that allowed them to play the game in 3D. Only draw back is if you are not wearing the game, the game looks out of focus. This whole 3D thing is starting to become popular again, especially in the theater, can it do well with games? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Super Obama?

Then really I just did a lot more walking around, spent pretty much the entire time I was there looking for Slave labor comics section. While I was looking around I did manage to get a Glimpse of Mark Hamill and Felicia Day signing autographs, that was cool. Did see this interesting game called Cyborg Mouse they were showing off there soon to be XNA game.

When we left for a little while to get something to eat, we also stopped by what seems to be the last Playstation store in the world (according to the store clerk). To bad it’s going to be torn down in a little while, but yeah…. It was an okay store nothing special. I had to sign off a bunch of stuff to buy a game though, that was a bit irratating. Either way it was nice to pick up Kill Zone 2 at the playstation store.

At the last moment before we left I manage to find the Slave Labor section and bought some goodies, was happy I did.. . Considering I spent the entire time looking for there stand. After that we left San Fransico and then I drove back home to Sacramento, pretty long two hour drive but I was listening to episode 08 of Rebel FM, probably the funniest episode I have ever listen to, and the 404 288 was also very, VERY funny. And that was my trip to Wondercon 09, not really sure if it’s worth going to again though…
